It’s Wednesday, which means if you haven’t started preparing for Week Two of fantasy football action, you’re a tad behind the curve. Whether it’s waiver wire research, sleeper analysis, or simply piecing together your own personal rankings, it’s never too early in the week to start preparing yourself for that extra edge.
Daily Joust’s NFL fantasy football games are still a few days away from going off, but if you haven’t tasted the excitement of college fantasy football games and want a crack at them, check them out, as they are live now!
In the meantime, we’ll continue to help get you ready for another week of fantasy football games as we target five guys to roll with and five guys to let someone else test out.
Here’s our Start/Sit column for Week Two:
Start
Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions
Stafford was a beast last week as he threw three touchdowns against the Buccaneers. Seeing that Ryan Fitzpatrick threw four of his own against the Chiefs (who Stafford plays this week), I really like his chances to keep his solid play rolling.
Cedric Benson, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Benson churned his way to 121 yards and a touchdown off of 25 carries, officially slapping me in the face for the potential bust label I stamped on him before the season started. His ride may not last forever, but it has a pretty good chance of continuing for at least one more week, as he goes up against a bad Broncos run defense that gave up 150 yards on the ground to Darren McFadden.
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, New York Giants
The Giants were suspect in their Week One loss to the Redskins, but Bradshaw still managed his way to 44 yards and a touchdown off of 13 carries. That breeds optimism, and with Hakeem Nicks possibly out this week, I like the Giants to lean heavily on Bradshaw and the ground game. The Rams can be run on, too, so he looks like a fairly solid play from all angles.
Santana Moss, WR, Washington Redskins
Moss was pretty solid in his first game this year, hauling in six catches for 76 yards against the Giants. Things should only get better as he gets to go to work against an Arizona Cardinals pass defense that gave up 422 yards to rookie Cam Newton.
Robert Meachem, WR, New Orleans Saints
Marques Colston is out and Lance Moore isn’t a lock to play this week, giving Meachem a starting role in the Saints’ explosive passing game. You have to take the chance on him this week.
Sit
Matt Hasselbeck, QB, Tennessee Titans
He’s clearly no stud, but some people are over-hyping Hasselbeck a bit after he threw for 263 yards and two scores in his Titans debut. Those numbers are nice, but he gets the Baltimore Ravens this week. Stay away.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
MJD looked completely fine following a major lay-off in camp and preseason, as he ran for 97 yards and one touchdown off of 24 carries. He’s a must-start in most weeks, but with the one-dimensional Jags’ taking on the run-stuffing New York Jets, this isn’t the best week to use him.
Chad Ochocinco, WR, New England Patriots
People were quietly thinking that Ochocinco could get off to a slow start due to not completely grasping the Patriots offense, but few people really believed he’d be putting up numbers as meager as one catch for 14 yards. Don’t expect a big splash with a fairly tough matchup in the Chargers this week.
Hakeem Nicks, WR, New York Giants
Nicks is normally a must-start stud, but he’s dealing with a sore knee and his status is “in doubt”. Even if he plays, he’s at risk to be limited or re-aggravate the injury. Shy away from him this week if you can.
Zach Miller, TE, Seattle Seahawks
Miller has the talent and athleticism to be a beastly tight end, but we found out pretty quickly (two catches, 19 yards) that he’s going to have a difficult time being productive with Tarvaris Jackson throwing him the ball. It doesn’t figure to get any prettier with a road game against the Steelers this week.
