If you’re still trying to finalize your weekly fantasy football lineup but aren’t sure about which injured players are safe plays, you’ve come to the right place.
There are several big names that are heavy risks this year, while there are some other guys that are game-time decisions. Let’s get to the week 14 injury report:
Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Vick makes his return this week. The Miami Dolphins are actually a tough unit, but Vick is still worth a play.
Josh Freeman, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman is shaky for this week, and could be a game-time call. He faces a pretty beatable Jaguars pass defense, so he’s worth a shot if he’s officially the starter.
Kyle Orton, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Orton is nursing a broken finger and won’t play this week. That means Tyler Palko will kill any fantasy value other Chiefs options had.
Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams
Bradford still isn’t a lock to play this week, and neither is A.J. Feeley. The Rams could be looking at deciding between Kellen Clemens and Tom Brandstater. Yay.
Christian Ponder, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Ponder is still dealing with the hip injury he sustained against the Broncos last week, but he looks like he’ll play. He’s coming off of a huge game and could put up big numbers again against a suspect Lions defense.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Peterson is at about 70-80% right now, but apparently feels good enough to give it a go. He’s still a game-time call, though. If he doesn’t start, Toby Gerhart is a solid RB2 play against a weak Lions run defense.
Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders
McFadden is out once again. Michael Bush will get another start.
Willis McGahee, RB, Denver Broncos
McGahee was in slight doubt earlier in the week, but now he’s almost a lock to start and get a heavy load.
Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears
Forte is out for this week, and could be done for the year.
Kevin Smith, RB, Detroit Lions
Smith is tentatively listed as questionable, but isn’t really expected to make the start this week. Avoid Lions running backs against a still solid Vikings run defense.
Mark Ingram, RB, New Orleans Saints
Ingram has been ruled out for week 14. Darren Sproles figures to hold the most value of all Saints backs this week.
James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers
Starks has been ruled out, giving Ryan Grant the majority of the carries against the Oakland Raiders. Brandon Saine and John Kuhn should get 5+ touches each, as well.
Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans
Houston will play it safe again, as they’ve ruled out AJ for this week. He could be back as early as next week, though.
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Maclin could be back this week, but appears to be a game-time decision. Riley Cooper has decent WR3 value again if Maclin remains out.
Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Austin makes his return, while Laurent Robinson likely drops down to the third receiver spot. Austin usually plays well against the Giants, so he could be a nice, sneaky play this week.
Mario Manningham, WR, New York Giants
Manningham makes it back this week, but I still don’t trust him over Victor Cruz.
Jacoby Ford/Denarius Moore, WR, Oakland Raiders
Ford and Moore remain out with injuries, which means Darrius Heyward-Bey and Chaz Schilens should start again for the Raiders.
Dallas Clark, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Clark will be back in the starting lineup, but he’s a bit of a risky play against the Ravens in his first game back.
Billy Cundiff, K, Baltimore Ravens
Cundiff is in doubt this week, which is unfortunate, as his matchup with the Colts is fantastic.
Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo Bills
Lindell is expected to miss the remainder of the year, giving Dave Rayner full-time kicking duties for the Bills.
Be sure to stay on top of the game-time calls. Good luck to all who play at Daily Joust this week!
