There are a total of five games on the National Hockey League schedule. Often, we look at trends when wagering on hockey, or other sports. However, those wagering trends can also be helpful when constructing a fantasy lineup, too. Check out a team’s history, especially recent history, against an opponent, conference teams, etc.
Montreal Canadiens at Buffalo Sabres 7pm ET
The Canadiens are 1-7 in their past eight meetings with the Sabres, and just 1-8 in their past nine games against Eastern Conference opponents. The Sabres TG ($184K) might be a good addition despite just one win and 23 total fantasy points over their past three outings. Canadiens LW Erik Cole ($146K) is scoreless with a minus-2 rating and zero total fantasy points over the past two games. Avoid. Sabres C Tyler Ennis ($165K) carries a five-game points streak (4 G, 5 A) in the play, and he has a plus-9 rating during the impressive span. Sabres RW Drew Stafford ($179K) has two goals and seven assists with a plus-7 rating during his personal four-game points streak.
Florida Panthers at Carolina Hurricanes 7pm ET
The Panthers are riding high after upending the Flyers 2-1 in Philly Tuesday night. Now, they head to Raleigh. The good news is that they are 4-0 in the past four meetings with the Hurricanes. The bad news is that they are 5-21-1 in their past 27 visits to PNC Arena, formerly RBC Arena. As such, the Hurricanes TG ($288K) might be a good add, especially in hi-cap games. Hurricanes LW Chad LaRose ($177K) has scored goals in three consecutive outings, and he has a plus-6 rating during the span with 14 SOG and six hits. Panthers LW Sean Bergenheim ($117K) has three goals with a plus-2 rating, 11 SOG and 10 hits over his past four games.
Detroit Red Wings at New York Rangers 7:30pm ET
The Red Wings are in a tailspin, losing five straight overall, and five straight on the road. Meanwhile, the Rangers are 25-9 in their past 34 home games. Looks like the Rangers TG ($218K) might be the play here, and they are fairly afforadable by TG standards, too. Rangers RW Ryan Callahan had his finest outing since returning from a foot injury, posting 26 fantasy points Monday against New Jersey. He also chipped in with five hits and three blocked shots. The Red Wings TG ($185K) is about the lowest you’ll ever see them priced. That’s because they have minus points in four of the past five games, posting minus-12 total fantasy points over their five-game losing streak.
Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks 8pm ET
This game might be a Western Conference playoffs preview, so watch closely. The Blackhawks are 0-4 in their past four games against Northwest Division opponents, but the Canucks TG ($215K) might be a bit overpriced considering they have averaged just 9.4 fantasy points over their past seven games (only two wins). Blackhawks D Brent Seabrook ($165K) carries a five-game points streak into play, posting at least 16 fantasy points in each contest. He is also a plus-8 over his past three games. Canucks D Kevin Bieksa ($118K) has a total of 19 fantasy points over his past four games, and he has just one assist with a minus-6 rating during the span.
St. Louis Blues at Anaheim Ducks 10pm ET
The Blues are in a dangerous spot. The Blues TG ($276K) is rather expensive, but trends suggest against using them. St. Louis is 2-14-1 in their past 17 games in Anaheim, and the home team is 26-7-1 in the past 34 meetings between the two sides. Ducks LW Bobby Ryan ($185K) has been a little up-and-down lately, posting three games with 23 or more fantasy points over the past five, and two goals with five or fewer points, including a goose egg March 16 in a loss to L.A. He is the definition of high-risk, high-reward. Blues D Alex Pietrangelo ($160K) has 13 or more fantasy points in seven of his past eight games.
