Chris Paul won't be sidetracked by a minor hamstring strain.
The final playoff series to go off will be in the Western Conference, as the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies get together. It might be well worth the wait, too. Both teams have the potential to go very deep into these playoffs, but someone has to bow out in this series.
Clippers PG
Chris Paul (
$205K) is an MVP candidate, and there is no chance he lets a mild left hamstring strain keep him from playing in the early part of this series. CP3 averaged 19.3 points per game (ppg), 8.7 assists per game (apg), 3.7 rebounds per game and 2.3 steals per game (spg) in three regular season meetings with Memphis. He posted 34 fantasy points in the latest meeting with the Grizzlies back on April 9.
Meanwhile, PF/C
Blake Griffin (
$185K) was good for 28 fantasy points in that last meeting with the Grizz, and he posted 39 or more fantasy points in each of his final three regular season games. He is on a roll, and Griffin looks to be on a mission to carry this team far. It will be fun watching him go head-to-head with Grizzlies C
Marc Gasol ($124K).
Gasol appears to be over a knee issue which was hampering him down the stretch. He averaged 32 fantasy points per game in his final two starts of the regular season, and he was good for 14.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 5.0 apg in three regular season meetings against the Clips.
Grizzlies F
Rudy Gay (
$150K) is chomping at the bit, ready for his first career postseason action. He missed last season’s playoff run due to injury. Gay managed 27 or more fantasy points in nine of his final 10 regular season games, and he was good for 17.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 1.3 apg in three games against the Clippers this season. He is certainly even capable of even more, but hopefully he doesn’t get overhyped and start trying to do too much early on.
SG
O.J. Mayo (
$113K) was huge down the stretch, hitting 20 or more fantasy points in four of the final games, while averaging 24 fantasy points per game in the final three outings. Mayo posted 13.3 ppg, 4.0 apg and 3.0 rpg in three meeting with the Clippers this season. He is a nice mid-level play.
If you’re looking for a surprise fantasy contributor, Clippers swingman
Nick Young ($58K) has the potential to explode. He did very little down the stretch for head coach Vinny Del Negro’s team, but he has all kinds of potential. Unlikely heroes step up in the postseason, and Young could very well outproduce his salary by a mile if he gets hot.
