If you used Ray Rice last week based off of our week eight Value Buys column, you were a pretty happy fantasy gamer (three touchdowns). We aim to get you that kind of production from a player off this list again, but at the same time, are trying to help you get some major bang for your buck.
There’s always a ton of solid value each week here at Daily Joust in the fantasy football salary cap games, and we’re going to find some again for week nine.
Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys ($162k)
I know Romo has been disappointing the past few weeks, but I think this is the week he turns it around. Jason Garrett needs to release him from his shackles sooner or later, and the Seahawks can definitely be had through the air.
Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams ($101k)
Bradford should be back this week (be sure to check his status), and he gets a terrible Cardinals defense. With Brandon Lloyd out there and Steven Jackson playing well, he could easily have his best game of the year.
Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons ($180k)
Turner has been somewhat hit-or-miss in 2011, but this week should be a big hit against the hapless Colts. He’s not really cheap, but he’s less than some of the other big names this week, and he could put up even better numbers.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, New England Patriots ($128k)
The Law Firm has been solid, and this week he gets a weak Giants run defense. Reggie Bush put up over 100 rushing yards on them last week, so clearly you have to like Green-Ellis in this one.
Michael Bush, RB, Oakland Raiders ($64k)
Bush’s value hinges on whether or not Darren McFadden plays this week. If McFadden (foot) is out, Bush could feast on a weak Broncos defense in week nine.
Wes Welker, WR, New England Patriots ($120k)
One off week, and Welker’s price tag plummets. Look for him to be garnering a hefty sum in week 10, as I think he’ll have a field day against a suspect Giants pass defense.
Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego Chargers ($82k)
V-Jax has been hard to rely on this year, but he’ll have to get it going sooner or later. I like his chances against a Packers pass defense that never fails to give up big yardage.
Sidney Rice, WR, Dallas Cowboys ($68k)
Rice seems to be a very solid fantasy option – but only when Tarvaris Jackson is under center. T-Jax should be back in the starting lineup this week, and a matchup with a beatable Cowboys pass defense only helps Rice’s cause. At $68k, you could do a lot worse.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots ($84k)
Gronk hasn’t been quite himself lately, but that’s because Aaron Hernandez came back and Gronk has been dealing with a minor injury. Regardless, he gets a nice matchup with the Giants this week, and at his solid price, he’s worth a shot.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers ($66k)
Not sold on Gronk in week nine? No worries. Why not try out Gates instead, as he faces a suspect Green Bay pass defense in a huge game.
Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers ($65k)
While Gates is a fun option, catch Finley on the flip-side (and at one dollar less), and you could get equal or better results. The guy is due, despite the matchup not looking to be the best.
Matt Bryant, K, Atlanta Falcons ($86k)
Bryant is always a solid option, but him facing the inept Colts this week puts his fantasy stock over the top. He’s an awesome kicking option at just $86k.
Lawrence Tynes, K, New York Giants ($68k)
Tynes is already pretty active in a solid Giants offense, but he could be extra busy in a potential shootout with the defensively inept Patriots in week nine.
Baltimore Ravens Team Defense ($89k)
Baltimore is always worth a shot, and although I don’t necessarily expect them to complete a sweep of the Steelers, this game could still be low-scoring and include some turnovers.
Atlanta Falcons Team Defense ($71k)
The Ravens are always tempting, but why not try the Falcons, who go up against an Indy offense that has scored just 17 points the past two weeks, while their defense is giving up 89 points.
You don’t have to use the fantasy options above, but these solid players should show you that there are a ton of deals (aka Value Buys) in Daily Joust’s weekly fantasy football games. Good luck to those who play this week!
