It’s Thursday night, and we have another short slate of games in the National Basketball Association. Two of the games will be nationally-televised, and are rather interesting. The third game, the Nets-Pacers, actually might be the best one for fantasy players, particularly if you start Indiana guys. Statistically, the Nets are the worst of the six teams playing Thursday, so keep that in mind when setting your rosters.
New Jersey Nets at Indiana Pacers 7pm ET
Nets PG Deron Williams ($158K) has been ridiculous lately, posting 31 or more fantsay points in eight of his past 10 games. He is averaging 37.5 fantasy points per game over the past two. The Nets are the second-worst defense (100.1 ppg) in the Eastern Conference, so load up on Pacers tonight. PF/SF Danny Granger (ankle) missed Wednesday’s game, and very well might sit Thursday. At $113K, he is just too risky. If Granger cannot go, swingman Paul George ($94K) should be a good play. He has averaged 18.7 fantasy points per game over the past four. Nets SG/PG Sundiata Gaines ($63K) is a nice sleeper, especially on a light night. He is averaging 18.7 fantasy points per game over his past three.
Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls 8pm ET
The Bulls have been getting decent production out of swingman Kyle Korver ($68K) lately. He is often overlooked by fantasy owners, as the Bulls have bigger names, but Korver is averaging 18.3 fantasy points per game over the past 10. That’s good production at such a cheap price. Bulls PG Derrick Rose (back) took part in the team’s shootaround Thursday, and is technically a game-time decision. However, head coach Tom Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune Wednesday that Rose is “still not quite ready,” so don’t risk $159K. Celtics PG Rajon Rondo ($133K) will be a very popular play, as he has averaged 54 fantasy points per game over his past two. He has added scoring (67 total points) to his game over the past two. That’s not good for the rest of the NBA. Rondo had a season-high 56 fantasy points in the last meeting with Chicago Sunday. Bulls PF/C Joakim Noah ($131K) has 24 or more fantasy points in nine of his past 10 games, including a 45-point fantasy effort last time out against the Kings Tuesday. He had 27 fantasy points in his last game against the C’s Feb. 12.
Los Angeles Clippers at Portland Trail Blazers 10:30pm ET
The Clippers and Blazers are the headliners of Thursday night. Just a couple of years ago, who would ever have thought that? We told you Wednesday that Trail Blazers SF/PF Gerald Wallace ($127K) would see an increase in salary, and he was bumped up $10K in 24 hours. He has been hot, averaging 31.4 fantasy points over the past five. Even with the higher salary, he is still a decent bargain. Clippers PF/C DeAndre Jordan ($91K) will also be a popular play. He posted 24 fantasy points Wednesday against the Wizards, and has averaged 23 fantasy points per game over the past three. Clippers SG/PG Randy Foye misfired on five of his seven field goal attempts, but still managed 18 fantasy points Wednesday. At just $62K, he is a must-have, especially since he has 14 or more fantasy points in each of his past five.
