Daily Fantasy Hockey NHL Preview Wednesday 4/4/12

There are just two games on the National Hockey League slate, as the unique final week regular season schedule continues. One game is rather important, with the Red Wings and Blues doing battle for the sixth and final time during the regular season. The home team is 5-0 this season, so if these clubs meet in the postseason, it might be a lengthy and highly contentious series. Oh yeah, the Lightning and Canadiens are playing too.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Montreal Canadiens 7:30pm ET

When these teams get together, few goals usually follow. In the past two meetings, a total of seven goals have been scored. While neither might be a contender, both the Lightning TG ($225K) and Canadiens TG ($197K) might be worth using, especially the visitors. Lightning C Steven Stamkos ($236K) is just playing out of his mind, posting two goals with an assist, plus-1 rating and 40 fantasy points in his last game. He has 13 or more fantasy points in six straight games, posting eight goals with 11 points during the stretch. Canadiens LW Max Pacioretty has hit the skids – hard. He has no goals in 11 gmaes dating back to March 8, and he has just two assists over his past eight games. Those two helpers have come in the past three games, however, and he is averaging a respectable 13 fantasy points per game during the span. He might ready for a breakout game. Lightning D Eric Brewer ($130K) has managed 18 or more fantasy points in five of his past eight games, thanks mostly to his hitting and blocked shot abilities.

Detroit Red Wings at St. Louis Blue 7:30pm ET

The Blues TG ($236K) might be a good play since the home team has won all five times in the previous five meetings this season. Red Wings LW Henrik Zetterberg ($196K) was blanked Sunday against Florida, but he has four goals with nine points over his past six. Blues C T.J. Oshie ($134K) is scoreless with a minus-1 rating and just four total fantasy points over his past two games. Red Wings RW Todd Bertuzzi ($120K) is scoreless over his past three games with just three total fantasy points. His salary, and average fantasy points per game number is skewed by a 46-point fantasy performance March 26 in Columbus. In his other nine games during the past 10, he has totaled just 47 fantasy points. Be careful.
